In recognition of black history month we are excited to sponsor a one-year 1701 Coworking membership for 2050C member and local artist Ladre Daniels. Ladre has recently incorporated as COPE "Cultivate Our People Everyday" and we believe that the services at 1701 will be of great benefit to him as an artist looking to professionalize his brand. To commemorate black history month and this new membership, we have installed several of Ladre's works which are on view in 1701's beautiful space in the ViBe District.
Check 1701's write up on the collaboration & spotlight here.
Ladre states: “The fine arts have always been a major part of my life ever since my childhood. For the past 8 years, I have progressed as professional painter and illustrator. Acrylic paint being my spotlight medium, I also use ink, marker, and graphite for illustration. My depictions have been of subjects that spark elation from within or they produce an introspective thought on life.
Juxtapose to a few of my favorite subjects like film, music, history and comics, I am able to translate feelings, thoughts or messages from the past into physical art. The pieces of Dr. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X are titled "An Evolution in Civil Revolution." People of color have come from both sides of it. Campaigning for equality and justice and still maintaining our grace and intelligence. While also protecting our American freedoms by any means necessary. These paintings highlight how we all must continue to learn from our past and unite under peace and understanding.”
